| I read the anthology edited by Mark S. Deniz and Amanda Pillar, "Voices". It is a horror anthology, dealing mainly with the supernatural and paranormal, and although it is rather short (180 pages) and I would have liked some of the stories to be longer, I enjoyed some of them and I discovered quite a few interesting authors. | I finished Joe Hill's novella, "Gunpowder". I have to admit that Joe Hill's works are quite impressive and if he keeps his works at this level he will be strong voice in literature. "Gunpowder" is an absolutely lovely read. "Gunpowder" by Joe Hill |

| I finished "The Company" by K.J. Parker. It is an interesting read, but I believe not to be the typical fantasy novel and it will not appeal to every reader. But I really liked the great in-depth characterization and how the author caught the human psychology. "The Company" by K.J. Parker |

| I finished Tim Lebbon's novella, "The Reach of Children". Basically is a horror story, but I believe that this novella is much more than this. It is a wonderful read and one of a best I had this year. The only thing I regret is that "The Reach of Children" is a limited edition and sadly its publisher is no more. I really hope that this novella will be re-published soon, because it deserves to be read and deserves to have a wider audience. "The Reach of Children" by Tim Lebbon |

| I finished "The Crown Conspiracy" by Michael J. Sullivan. I am glad that for a year now my access to small and independent publishers' titles is easier for me, because otherwise it is possible I would have missed some titles like this one. "The Crown Conspiracy" is an entertaining read, action-packed and which kept me hooked from the first page until the last. I certainly like to see how this series develops. | I finished Mike Carey's "The Devil You Know". I didn't know what to make of this novel before reading it, I heard many things about Mike Carey but I didn't know his style. However, the novel offered me a plesant surprise and I really liked its main character, Felix Castor. He reminded me a lot of some of my childhood heroes (Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot, Inspector Maigret...) although its a different style, but such a interesting investigator. | I finished "The Dog of the North" by Tim Stretton. The novel has some interesting ideas behind the story, but with a slow pace and rhythm. It left me with mixed feelings and although I liked some of the authors ideas, this novel was a rather unsatisfactory one for me. "The Dog of the North" by Tim Stretton |

| I finished "Twelve" by Jasper Kent. It comes as blend between historical fiction and vampire story, but I believe that the novel is much more than just this. I find it hard to categorize this novel, but I really enjoyed it. The author does a great job with his war descriptions and the images, atmosphere and the questions it raised put me well on thoughts. | I like to relax from time to time with an action-packed novel and this time was Rebecca Levene's "Kill or Cure". I like this series of post-apocalyptic novels, "The Afterblight Chronicles", because it's fun and relaxing. So is this novel, full of action, bloodshed in an interesting setting. | I finished Samantha Henderson's "Heaven's Bones". I enjoyed the most of the novel, but I believe that will not appeal to every reader. I struggled for the first quarter not to put the novel aside and it's only after the first half that the things become interesting. It is a little rough and bumpy, but the novel has many interesting things. "Heaven's Bones" by Samantha Henderson |

| I finished a Romanian SF novel, "Abatia" (The Abbey) by Dan Dobos. I also reviewed the novel to show a glimpse of the Romanian speculative fiction. I liked this novel, it has interesting concepts and ideas and Dan Dobos proves to be a talented and imaginative author. The Romanian speculative fiction needs more such novels and authors. “Abaţia” (The Abbey) by Dan Doboş |

| I finished "The Absence" by Bill Hussey. I am impressed by the works of Bill Hussey. Although I liked more his debut novel published last year, "Through a Glass, Darkly", his second novel is not far behind and reflects an improvement in the author's career. And if Bill Hussey would write more such novels I believe he will become one of the heavy names of horror fiction. "The Absence" by Bill Hussey |

| I finished Jeff Carlson's novel, "Plague Year". It is not the best post-apocalyptic novel I read, but it is a fast and relaxing read. And the premises of the scenario are pretty disturbing. "Plague Year" by Jeff Carlson |

| I finished Adam Roberts' "Yellow Blue Tibia". I was familiar with the author's short stories, but this is his first novel I read. It is a lovely novel and I enjoyed it a lot. Although the Science Fiction elements of the novel seem to be in the background they are quite powerful. And I absolutely loved the humor of the novel caught in scenes, situations and dialogues. | I finished a collection of stories written by Reggie Oliver, "Madder Mysteries". It is quite an interesting collection, with stories playing with the strange, supernatural and horror, the last one most of the time only just hinted. And the last part of the book, with snippets told in a newspaper manner are very funny and entertaining. "Madder Mysteries" by Reggie Oliver |
