I am a 48 year old grandmother of three with lots of time on her hands and a love for traditional fantasy. I have 2 fun little blogs.

Dragons, Heroes and Wizards

↑ Grab this Headline Animator

Where I review completed fantasy series or completed arcs within a really large series. I do each book then finish with a series summary.

I read and review more traditional fantasy, preferring secondary world or alternate history, in other words, I am not into Urban Fantasy. I reserve this blog only for reviews but the sidebars contain lots of SFF links.

In addition, there is:

The Old Bat's Belfry

Here I gather up SFF articles, news and various other links that I hope SFF fans will find interesting. I also do single fantasy book reviews, standalones or books in an incomplete series. You will also find shoutouts, blogger awards, book award lists and Memes.

Please feel free to use this section of the forum to discuss my posts, recommend series for me to review, or post anything relating to either blog. I look forward to hearing from you!

Both blogs are very good reading for me--you're a big help when I want to find a new quest story

You're welcome!

By the way, I found a series called (I think) "The Malazan Book of the Fallen", and bought myself the first book "Gardens of the Moon" a few days ago. I would like to know what you think of this series.

That series presents me with a problem, just like Wheel of Time, and Ice and Fire, the series is not complete nor is it divided up into clearly defined manageable pieces.

I might be able to divide it 5 and 5, I have read that the first 5 books are written in a different style then the last 5.

Maybe fans of the series can tell me if that is true.

But if I stay true to my reading/reviewing parameters, I need to wait until all 10 are done so I can review it as a complete series.

I follow Dragons, Heroes & Wizards - a few posts marked unread until I've finished the books myself [Night Angel Trilogy]. The whole series overview is great and I've bought the first two Kushiel books as a result. I was going to leave a comment after I'd read them. Yet, I didn't notice 'The Old Bat's Belfry'! How'd that happen! So, it's now added to my reader ... great links too ... really enjoyed the link to Jennifer Fallon's blog entry "Is Epic Fantasy on the Wane" and the varied discussions that resulted.

It is actually pretty safe to read the review of Night Angel, it is completely spoiler free. I even hid the blurbs under spoiler tags!

Great books, I am looking forward ton seeing what you think of them.
