PostSubject: About Me & the Blog   Mon Jan 12, 2009 4:25 pm

Here's a little about both me and the blog for any curious enough to have a look Smile Nothing too in depth of course, but feel free to ask anything!

So, my name is Mark and I run Walker of Worlds, a blog that I try to keep focused on sci-fi books and related media. It's been running for almost 18 months, but I've only been giving my full attention since the middle of last year (I got married in May so I my focus was elsewhere until that was out of the way Wink ). Even in such a short time the stuff I've been exposed to has opened my eyes to the vastness of what can be found out there. Of course, without all the other great blogs I wouldn't have even found some authors, so it just goes to show what you can find if you look around.

Although I try and keep the content sci-fi related, I've tried some fantasy (still not convinced) and I've got a couple of paranormal investigation books at the moment, the first of which I'm enjoying a lot more than I thought I would. Still, I want to broaden my reading but will try and keep the majority of books on my shelf firmly in the sci-fi genre, and space opera is my poison of choice within that Smile

If you see or hear of anything you think I might like just let me know, I'm always open to suggestions! Same goes for any feedback on the blog, anything is appreciated Smile

Hi Mark,

we don't know each other. You can read more about me on the Introduction.
So far I didn't read your blog because you are more science fiction related and I'm more fantasy related.

Did you ever read a steampunk novel?
Last one I read and enjoyed: The Affinity Bridge by GeorgeMann.

Maybe you like steam driven machines and automatons.

Hi Edifanob

Thanks for dropping by and I understand why you don't read the blog - I guess I do alienate a lot of readers by focusing about 95% on sci-fi with the odd different thing here and there. I'm sure we'll have plenty of discussions on here though, and maybe I'll pick up a recommendation or three in the course of them Smile

As for steampunk, the closest I've got would be Crystal Rain by Tobias Buckell or Perdido Street Station by China Mieville (I've only read half of it though). It's another genre that I don't really enjoy, but will read if an interesting enough book comes along.
